چکیده
Abstract Introduction and Aims Almost three quarters of patients diagnosed with bladder cancer have non-muscle invasive disease. The European Association Urology (EAU) guidelines recommend the use intravesical instillation Mitomycin C (MMC) to reduce rate recurrence. Methods A retrospective cohort analysis was carried out all who underwent a TURBT between January 2016 2019 in our Trust. comparison recurrence outcomes investigated had immediate MMC (within 1 hours post-TURBT) versus early 24 post-TURBT). Recurrence assessed at 3 months cystoscopy year follow-up. Results 201 were included. 100 (75% male, 25% female); 101 (72% 28% female). There 11% (immediate) 13% (early) groups months. At first year, seen 12% 14% groups. Of these recurrences, there an upstaging tumour 27% 31% monthly follow-up 1st year. mean period post-operative stay following initial 0.8 days 1.1 Conclusion Although no statistical differences this study, results appear favour after respect reduction rates. Post-operative length hospital also shorter instillation.

Instillation of mitomycin C after transurethral resection of bladder cancer impairs wound healing: an animal model.
BACKGROUND Mitomycin C is used in the immediate post-operative period to prevent tumor re-implantation, but it has adverse effects on the bladder. This study devised an animal model to investigate the effects of intravesical mitomycin C on wound healing. METHODS AND MATERIALS A cystotomy was made in the dome of the bladder of female rats. The mucosa of the posterior wall was scratch with clos...
متن کاملUpdate on early instillation of chemotherapy after transurethral resection of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
INTRODUCTION Non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) is a highly recurrent disease. Early bladder chemotherapy instillation (EBCI) after transurethral resection (TURB) is an efficient way to diminish recurrence. However, this method is often challenged. Areas covered: There was a recent publication of a large meta-analysis with the original patient data and the largest study ever on EBCI. Bo...
متن کاملEffectiveness of an Immediate Mitomycin C Instillation in Patients with Superficial Bladder Cancer Receiving Periodic Mitomycin C Instillation
PURPOSE We analyzed the impact of immediate intravesical mitomycin C instillation after transurethral resection of the bladder (TURB) on tumor recurrence and progression in patients with periodic mitomycin C instillation. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between June 2000 and June 2006, a retrospective study was performed in a total of 115 patients with primary bladder tumors receiving a 6-week course o...
متن کاملImmediate intravesical instillation of mitomycin C after transurethral resection of bladder tumor in patients with low-risk superficial transitional cell carcinoma of bladder.
INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of immediate intravesical instillation of mitomycin C after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) in patients with low-risk superficial transitional cell carcinoma (TCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 43 patients with low-risk superficial bladder cancer were randomly assigned into two groups after the surgery; 22 pati...
متن کاملSingle instillation of mitomycin C reduces 1st year recurrence following transurethral resection of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
OBJECTIVE To study the impact of single instillation of 40 mg Mitomycin C (MMC-40) within first hour of transurethral resection (TUR), on first year recurrence of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. METHODS In this study of two groups of patients with similar demographics and tumour profile were compared to assess first year tumour recurrence pattern. Group A received MMC-40 within 30 minutes...
